I am the youngest of three brothers and grew up all over the great state of Texas. We moved from Amarillo to Laredo and most points in between.
Towards my later teen years we moved away from Texas to a little city outside of Shreveport, LA. It was there that I finished high school and attended college.
It was also during this time I fell hard for a blonde haired girl named Karen.
18 years later we have 3 kids and a Labrador retriever named Pearl. All 6 of us have hopes and dreams of moving to our little 8.5 acre farm in the near future.
Away From The Office
When I’m not working, you can catch me trying to lead a simple life. I absolutely love spending time outside, especially with my family. I’ve grown a garden or two, and look for the slightest excuse to use my tractor.
I don’t play golf, but it looks awesome. Since 2010, I’ve been the Scoutmaster of Boy Scout Troop 707. The Scouting program teaches these boys a lot, but I’ve learned more than the boys.
On most Sundays my family attends church at Northside Church right here in Texarkana. We’re involved with the kid’s ministry and wherever else they need us.
My Professional Life
I’ve been helping people with money related stuff for a while. I’m the Chief Compliance Officer and half partner of Cogent Advisory Group, an SEC Registered Investment Advisor. Additionally, I practice as a financial advisor at my firm Carroll Investment Management.
This Blog’s Goal
My hope is that I can help reduce my reader’s stress by helping them financially plan, prepare and live.
I write about Social Security, retirement issues and personal management. Occasionally, I invite my friends in related fields to add their voice and contribute an article.
Hopefully, as a result of something written or said on this blog, my readers can turn their focus to the things that really matter – family, friends & health.
